Taking the JESUS film to Latin America & the Caribbean

“Deus me mandou” (God called me) …is what I thought as I stood in a Brazilian church service in Miami, Florida recently. Always having a passion for languages and learning about other cultures I was ecstatic and so thankful for being blessed by the opportunity to spend some time with the Brazilian church community in South Florida.

Over the traditional dish of Feijoda Completa (stewed meat with black beans) white rice, yucca flour and greens; I met some of the most warm hearted, generous and spirit filled people… Brasileiros (people of Brazil)… I look forward to learning more about this culture!

Brazil is the 5th largest country in the world and the largest nation in Latin America with a population of almost 200 million. Nearly all Brazilians speak Portuguese however it has well over 150 distinct indigenous languages.

Rev. 7:9...After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the lamb.

The JESUS film has been taking the word of God to Brazil through film and planting churches but there is still so much work to do! Currently there are people’s groups waiting for the movie to be produced in their language. The Ticuna people in the Amazon is one of them, with the entire population also spread over Peru and Colombia and also another group that immigrated from Germany to Brazil in 1824 and speak the Hunsrik language with a population of over 3 million.

Please join us in prayer as we ask the Lord how He will use us in Brazil, while we work on completing the team that will fund this ministry and be able to see many people come to Christ by hearing and seeing JESUS in their heart language.

February: Embera people group, Panamá
We have seen Gods hand every step of the way on this project taking only 6 months total from start to finish. February brings the follow up trip of the voice recordings for the dubbing of the film JESUS in Embera. The recording, mixing and dubbing will all be done in the beautiful Gamboa area by the Panamá Canal.

Gamboa Union church will host all the actors and the recording team. (If you are in Panamá and interested in seeing how it’s done let me know, God willing I will arrive in Panamá on the 10th) The plans are that the film will be ready for its premier at an Embera church by mid March! This movie will be a valuable tool for the Embera church leaders to bring people to Christ and for use in church planting and discipleship.

Last month had its challenges and was busy, however seeing Gods grace and confirmation at every turn has been sweet! We are currently 40% funded and won’t be able to report to our assignment until we are at 100%.

It would be a privilege and a blessing to have your partnership! Please pray to see in what way you can help us reach our monthly budget goal!

Many blessings to you!  Edgar, Mel and the kids…….
